RADISHES
When to Buy/In Season:
All year
How to Select:
Look for uniformly shaped radishes that are free of blemishes, firm and right red or white, depending upon variety. When buying at farmers market, inspect the leaves; tiny holes from flea beetles confirm the crop has not been sprayed.
Organic Issues:
Flea beetles are difficult to control without spraying; some farmers put out yellow stickum cards to attract and trap the bugs.
Pesticide Issues:
not listed
How to Store:
Fresh:
Refrigerate in crisper or in plastic bag, and use within one week. If radishes become slimy or blackened, discard.
