SWISS CHARD
When to Buy/In Season:
In cold climates, look for chard in late spring or early summer; in warm winter areas, lok for chard in winter.
How to Select:
Look for stems that are crisp, not limp, and inspect the cut ends; they should look freshly cut, not dried or shriveled. The leaves should be fresh and glossy.

Nitrogen fertilizers are used to promote growth.
